Frequently Asked Questions

Please feel free to contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

You need to be registered on our system in order to make a booking. Please fill in a registration form  (or we can email one to you) and send it to us, by email is best. Once you're registered, you can simply contact us to make a new booking or enquiry.

Our boarding fees are charged per day, not per night. This means that for all stays, the day of arrival and day of collection are both charged for at the daily rate. A kennel is allocated to your dog from 10:30am on the day of arrival and up to 4:30pm on the day of collection Monday to Saturday, or up to 2:00pm if collecting on a Sunday.

We take full payment with booking, paid via a Stripe link on your booking confirmation email. The booking is secured as soon as full payment is received. We are unable to hold kennels unpaid.

You can find our full terms and conditions here. These terms include our cancellation and refund policies. You agree to our terms by booking any service with us. If you have further questions, please contact us.

Puppies can board with us as soon as they are classed as fully vaccinated. For elderly dogs, we assess each dog individually. As a general rule, once a dog is over and above the expected lifespan for their breed, we would consider carefully whether boarding kennels are the best environment for them and always put the welfare of the dog first.

All dogs receive individual care while boarding. We don't mix the dogs staying with us and only family dogs share kennels, if requested. All dogs are taken for daily exercise in our secure on site paddocks individually (or in family groups) which gives them the opportunity to run around,  play with toys, and receive special one-on-one attention from our kennels team.

We have everything here that your dog will need for their stay, including beds, blankets, bowls, food, and toys for playtime. However you are welcome to bring bedding, toys, and treats from home if you feel it will help your dog settle. If your dog is remaining on their usual diet during their stay, please bring their own food; we have dedicated freezers and fridges for dogs staying on a raw or fresh diet. For dogs not bringing food from home, we feed the Arden Grange range of food, both wet and dry.  We also feed the dogs treats from a quality selection, or you can bring in your dog's own if they particularly like certain treats.

We’ll already have the registration details you provided when booking, so we’ll know what your dog eats, any medication they require, and details about their temperament. If anything changes before their stay, please let us know in advance so we can update their boarding records and ensure we’re fully prepared. Vaccination records must be provided before check-in. As a licensed kennels, we need to ensure every dog coming in to us is vaccinated in line with our requirements, helping to prevent delays or refusals at admission. When you arrive for check-in to our lovely spacious reception area, a member of staff will ask about your dog’s general wellbeing and may confirm that we have all the information needed to provide the best possible care. After handover, staff will take your dog to the kennel block along with any food or belongings you’ve brought with you. In certain circumstances — for example, if a dog is particularly reactive or aggressive — owners may be asked to accompany their dog to the kennel block. On arrival, we remove collars, leads, and harnesses, carry out a general health check, and help each guest settle into their kennel with fresh bedding, water, and toys. Before collection, any belongings being returned are usually washed and prepared in advance. When you arrive, staff will radio through for your dog to be made ready, complete another basic health check, put on their collar and lead, and bring them into reception to meet you. We’ll also be happy to update you on how your dog has been during their stay. At weekends and on bank holidays, the main door into reception may be closed, so just ring our video doorbell outside to let us know you're here.

All our kennels are heated and we also have heat lamps when extra warmth is needed. We provide all the bedding and blankets your dog will need to stay comfortable. At bed time, the shutter between the outdoor run and inside kennel space is closed so no chilly draughts can blow through.

All our boarding dogs can be booked in for a Bath, Brush & Blow Dry before they go home. We recommend you add a bath to bookings of 5 days or more, as sometimes even the cleanest of environments won’t stop that classic doggy smell from lingering! Your dog will be washed using a range of different doggy products to suit their coat and skin, and deodorized with a spritz of doggy friendly fragrance! View our prices here.

No, we are unable to accept any admissions or collections outside of our opening times. We are open Monday to Saturday between 10:30am & 4:30pm. On Sunday we open for collections only between 12:00 Midday & 2:00pm. We are closed on Bank Holidays.

We welcome viewings without an appointment. Please feel free to  visit us Monday to Saturday between 10:30am & 3:00pm, and one of our team will be happy to show you around. Unfortunately you cannot bring your dog to a viewing because our insurance only covers those dogs currently in our care, and there will be dogs coming and going in and out of our kennel blocks, for example being taken for exercise, so we ask that you leave your furry friends at home or in the car when you come to view. Dogs can come for trial days or nights, please enquire or give us a call to book.

As a licensed kennels we require verification of up-to-date vaccinations, prior to boarding, for DHP (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus) and Leptospirosis. The kennel cough vaccine is recommended, but not mandatory, and must be administered no less than 14 days before boarding as it is a live vaccine. Once a puppy has had their second course of injections and is classed as fully vaccinated we can accept them for boarding. Primary vaccination courses, including those given when a course has lapsed due to boosters not being continuous, must be completed at least 2 weeks before acceptance into boarding.

We understand that for some dogs a change in their routine and environment can be unsettling and may cause some stress or anxiety. Having a dedicated kennels team who are all dog lovers, and some with dog behavioural therapy experience, means we can spend a little more time with those dogs who may need a helping hand. We can hand feed the picky pups to encourage them to eat more, and spend extra time in their kennel with dogs who need a little longer to gain our trust. We're always happy to discuss your dog's individual needs with you, as it's just as important to us that you feel reassured, as it is that your dog is comfortable and happy in our care.

From 2024,  XL Bully rules are in force. There are some requirements that owners must be aware of and follow regarding boarding at our kennels: -

• We will not discriminate based on breed, and will continue to assess every dog’s suitability for boarding on an individual basis, as we always have done.

• You must hold Third Party Public Liability Insurance as required by the new rules and provide details of your policy for our records before boarding.

• You must have a Certificate of Exemption as required by the new rules and provide a copy for our records.

• Your dog must be muzzled at the gate on arrival, and we will keep hold of it to muzzle again when you come to collect.

Please also read our terms and conditions for full information.

We will always do our best to respond to requests for updates. We can respond via email, with photos if we have any, or over the phone. Due to time we're not able to automatically give updates on all dogs staying with us. If there is a problem we will always contact you.

All of our kennels team receive canine first aid training via a certified trainer.

Our licence number AW032 is issued by Mid Sussex District Council, we have a five star rating meaning we are exceeding the statutory guidance standards, and are licensed for 42 boarded dogs. A copy of our licence and insurance certificates are on display in reception. More information on our insurance is in our terms and conditions.
